FTO striving to create pleasant tax culture in country: Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah

Multan:A delegation of newly elected officials of Multan Tax Bar Association under the leadership of President Naveed ul zafar Sheikh met Federal Tax Ombudsman Muhammad Asif Mahmood Jah. The federal tax ombudsman assured to solve their priblems and accepted the invitation of Multan tax bar to visit the tax bar. He said while talking to the delegation that our aim is to provide a clean and transparent environment to the tax payers so that people can come to pay the tax for the country. The delegation included Imran Nawaz, General Secretary Kashif Rashid, Bashir Ahmed Ansari and others participated.

Meanwhile, Federal Tax Ombudsman’s (FTO) Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Multan distributed checks for sales tax refund along with the officials of the chamber. In this regard, Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah speaking at the check distribution ceremony the objective of the Federal Tax Ombudsman is to create a pleasant tax culture and take steps to discipline the officials to perform their duties in a proper manner so that the problems of taxpayers are resolved. We have also followed the recommendations of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry decisions on complaints are given within 38 days and an implementation cell has also been established to implement them.  Assistant advisors have also been appointed for the purpose of implementing the decisions on complaints, he said, accounts are opened to the tax ombudsman on complaints, show cause notices are issued to FBR officers, due to which now the Chairman FBR Tax payers instead of going to the Tax Commissioner to the Chief Commissioner, he said that the tax ombudsman has caught mega corruption cases in the steel and sugar sector.  A book containing their rights is being published and the Urdu translation of the Tax Ombudsman Ordinance has also been done. People can register their complaints through WhatsApp, online and web portal.  Tax advisor Dr. Khalil Ahmed and advisor Almas Jolandra said that the tax ombudsman worked to give relief to the common man and the rate of sales tax on small cars was 12 to 17 percent and when this rate Indus took the data of 9000 vehicles from manufacturers and made refund checks in two months, which is a big success of the tax ombudsman.
