Islamabad: The PTI workers’ violence against journalists in Lahore has been strongly denounced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who also pledged that the government would take every precaution to protect journalists.
He said in a statement that civilized countries are distinguished by their freedom of expression. The PTI leader Imran Khan, according to the prime minister, has tortured anyone who questions him and poisoned the youth with intolerance and chaos. He claimed that there were many instances of violence against journalists under Imran Khan’s administration. The entire country, according to Shehbaz Sharif, salutes the journalists who were murdered by the PTI in Lahore. He praised all the journalists who, in spite of difficulties, are informing the public of the truth.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has also strongly condemned the attack on media persons by PTI workers.
She alleged that the PTI, during its tenure, incarcerated media persons in jail, broke their ribs and bones and involved in their kidnapping and shooting.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said the PTI continues its legacy of violence even after its ouster from power.
Meanwhile, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, National Heritage and Culture Engineer Amir Muqam Sunday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and gave a detailed briefing about the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the meeting, issues pertaining to the National Heritage and Culture Division were discussed, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
They also exchanged views on the overall political situation of the country and other issues of mutual interest.
The prime minister directed for expediting the public contact campaign and effective utilization of digital technology with responsibility in this regard.
He also appreciated the steps taken by Amir Muqam for strengthening of PML-N in the province at the grassroots level.
Moreover, Minister for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. During the meeting, the issues related to Pakistan Railways and aviation and the overall political situation of the country were discussed, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
