IHC suspends Imran Khan’s arrest warrants in Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday, suspended the non-bailable arrest warrants issued by a local court in the capital in the Toshakhana case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. The PTI leader’s appeal against Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal’s ruling was accepted by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, who also instructed Khan to make sure he shows up before the lower court on March 13.

The former prime minister was ordered to appear before the sessions court, which was also hearing the Toshakhana case, where he will be indicted, as a result of the high court’s ruling. For repeatedly failing to appear before the court in the Toshakhana case, Additional Sessions Judge Iqbal issued the former prime minister’s non-bailable arrest warrant on February 28.

Islamabad police then raided Khan’s residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park but returned empty-handed as the law enforcers were informed that the former prime minister “wasn’t available” .
