Local, foreign companies should invest in Pakistan’s power sector: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Karachi Electric had improved in efficiency following privatization, with fewer line losses and better revenue collection serving as an example for other power companies.

The prime minister shared these opinions with a four-person delegation from Karachi Electric during a meeting. He urged the K-Electric investors to invest in the energy sector, including solar electricity production. He advised both domestic and international businesses to invest in the country’s energy sector. Shehbaz Sharif gave the order to address the Karachi Electric’s issues in a priority manner.

He mentioned that efforts were being made by the government to put solar-powered panels in public buildings. Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Special Assistant to the PM Jahanzeb Khan, and senior government officials were present at the meeting. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Hamd Aljomia, Non Executive Director K-Electric Shan Abbas, Chief Executive Director Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, and Chief Regulatory Officer Imran Hussain Qureshi made up the K-Electric delegation.

Meanwhile, seperately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan and Qatar have strong ties in a variety of fields thanks to shared ideals and aspirations for the future. These opinions were shared by the prime minister during a meeting with Qatar’s ambassador, Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman bin Faisal Al Thani, who gave him an update on various initiatives to strengthen ties between the two countries.
