Lahore: Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman met President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, at Governor House Lahore, here today. On this occasion, the Punjab Governor warmly welcomed the President and welcomed him to the Governor’s House. During the meeting, the President and the Governor of Punjab reiterated their determination that the betterment of the country lies in following the constitution and law.
President Dr. Arif Alvi said that the actions of the Governor of Punjab were in accordance with the Constitution, and the decision of the Supreme Court has also validated this. He further said that the current problems faced by country were temporary and the future of Pakistan was bright.
Earlier, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman launched the spring plantation drive in Punjab by planting saplings here at Governor House Lahore.
Speaking on this occasion, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that there is a need to plant more trees to protect the future generations from the adverse effects of global warming He said that we should actively plant trees to reduce environmental pollution. Governor Punjab said that tree plantation campaign has been inaugurated throughout the province . He said that people from all walks of life should actively participate in this campaign. Governor Punjab said that numerous examples were found in the saying of last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about the importance of trees. It is forbidden to cut fruit trees even in the wars in our religion, he added.
Punjab Governor, Muhammad Balighur Rehman, said that we have to increase the number of trees and green areas in cities to mitigate the adverse effects of environmental pollution. He said that along with planting trees, we also have to pay attention to their growth, so that the objectives of the plantation campaign can be achieved.
Meanwhile, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rahman was presented with a check of Rs 1 crore for the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria by Al Moiz Group here at Governor House Lahore today. Al Moiz Group Senior Vice President, Iftikhar Babar, and Chief Financial Officer ,Wasif Mehmood presented the check to Governor Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rahman said that the services of businessmen in welfare works under the social responsibility are commendable. He said that the doors of the Governor’s House are always open for good cause. Governor Punjab said that on the special instructions of Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, despite the difficult economic conditions, the government is helping the earth quake victims in Turkey, and Syria, and is standing with them in this hour of difficulty.
He further said that the way, Rescue 1122 team under the leadership of DG Rescue, Dr. Rizwan Naseer carried out rescue services in Turkey is commendable.
