ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman stated on Friday that it was crucial to raise awareness among the general public and all stakeholders about the value of wildlife conservation and to take action to protect it on this World Wildlife Day.
The federal minister stated that in order to ensure the survival of these priceless resources and assets for future generations, stakeholder engagement and public awareness were essential. World Wildlife Day, according to Senator Sherry Rehman, is observed worldwide, including in Pakistan. She added that the day’s goal was to raise awareness of wildlife rights and conservation. Every person living on earth has a responsibility to protect the environment, wild areas, and wildlife.
The Minister emphasized how significant World Wildlife Day was to Pakistan. Sherry Rehman continued, “Pakistan is home to wildlife that includes endangered snow leopards, Indus dolphins, deer, birds, and countless other species. Unfortunately, she claimed that wildlife in Pakistan was under threat as a result of numerous factors including rising population, construction, poaching, illegal wildlife trade, and pollution. “We have taken numerous measures to safeguard our wildlife. To stop illegal hunting and trade in wildlife, these measures include the creation of protected areas and the enforcement of laws and regulations, according to Senator Sherry Rehman. She continued by saying that more needed to be done to protect wildlife and their habitats.
