Ushna Shah, a Pakistani actress who recently wed Pakistani golfer Hamza Amin, issued an apology to her detractors who claimed that she was endorsing Indian culture.
Ushna was the target of online bullying shortly after her wedding photos were posted on social media. People criticized her bridal gown and for dancing at her own wedding. On Instagram, the actress wrote: “I haven’t responded to online bullying in years, but I am a human being going through a very vulnerable period in my life. A newlywed in a brand-new house.
Ushna expressed her outrage and sadness over the harassment and privacy violation at her wedding, saying: “I worked very hard to make this time private, from hiring photography teams who signed NDAs to hiring security and strict guest lists at the door. I wanted to protect our union and only share what I was comfortable with. Many people broke into that space to take advantage of our joyous occasion, even interfering with our nikkah. As any bride would be, she admitted that she was embarrassed, but she also said that she had a human moment and reacted. “I revealed the first person I discovered had violated my privacy, I defended myself, and I even withdrew my statement after they apologized, but then I found out others were also involved, in worse ways, and the damage done, so I withdrew my statement.”
Ushna went on to say that she did not get married in order to disrespect Pakistani culture because that was not her intention. If that’s how people perceive me to have behaved, I apologize for disappointing anyone. For the sake of her mental health, she declared that she would be avoiding Instagram for a few days. She continued by saying that she wanted to enjoy this time with her husband and their new family. I’m not sure if I’m qualified for this job, she added.
