Pakistan, Afghanistan agree on addressing the scourge of terrorism

Islamabad: The threat of terrorism posed by various individuals and groups will be effectively addressed by Pakistan and Afghanistan. The agreement was reached on Wednesday in Kabul during discussions between senior members of the Afghan Interim government and a high-level Pakistani delegation led by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif. Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Beradar Akhund, Defense Minister Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, and Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi were among the senior Afghan officials with whom the delegation met. Discussion topics included the rising threat of terrorism in the area, particularly from Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and the Islamic State Khorasan Province. In order to further strengthen the friendly ties between the two nations, both parties also decided to intensify their bilateral cooperation in a number of areas.
