ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik stated on Monday that the country’s general elections would be held at the scheduled time in accordance with the Constitution and law, regardless of the deteriorating economic conditions.
Because of the incorrect policies of the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf regime, both the economic and law-and-order situations were at their worst; however, the current government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, did not want to delay the situation in an unconstitutional way, he said. According to him, elections should be held in order to transparently transfer authority to elected officials so they can serve the public rather than pursue personal interests. Given its independence, Pakistan’s Election Commission should take action to ensure fair and transparent election administration.
