Karachi: Zia Mohyeddin, an internationally acclaimed performer and former president of the National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa), passed away in Karachi early on Monday. He was 91. His family reported that Mohyeddin was hospitalized with a serious illness and was being kept alive. Today at 6:30 am, he passed away. After Zuhr, funeral prayers for Mohyeddin will be recited at Imambargah Yasrab in Karachi’s fourth defense phase. Mohyeddin, who was born on June 20, 1931, is revered for his work in radio and television broadcasting, acting, and theatre directing. He mentored hundreds of students who are now employed in TV production. He was once the leader and later the president of Napa in Karachi.
