Karachi: Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has ordered that all feasible steps be taken to ensure the safety of foreign and domestic visitors in the nation. On Sunday, he presided over a meeting in Gwadar about counterterrorism and the safety of visitors to the nation. He declared that Chinese nationals working on various projects in Pakistan would receive foolproof security, and any negligence in this area would not be tolerated. One percent of all projects in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, according to Rana Sanaullah, has been set aside for security measures. He argued that locals should be given preference when hiring new employees for security companies.

According to Rana Sanaullah, the security agencies must ensure the safety of both domestic residents and visitors. The session that covered anti-terrorism and the security of foreign nationals residing in Pakistan was presided over by the interior minister. Participating in the meeting were the secretary of the interior, the chief secretary of Punjab, the home secretary of Punjab, the director general of the IB, and senior CTD officials. The minister was informed of the measures taken to ensure the security of the visitors as well as the anti-terrorism plan. He urged the authorities to put in place impenetrable security measures and ensure the safety of foreign nationals, noting that the government’s top priority was to end the scourge of terrorism.

On Sunday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah added that the government had authorized the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to detain former Finance Minister PTI Senator Shaukat Tarin in connection with an investigation into his alleged role in the collapse of an IMF agreement. Two audio leaks from August of last year showed a man, allegedly an ex-minister named Tarin, directing the PTI’s finance ministers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab to inform the coalition government in the Center and the IMF that they would not be able to commit to a provincial budget surplus in light of the monsoon floods that caused devastation throughout Pakistan.

Sanaullah slammed  PTI Chairman Imran Khan at a press conference in Karachi, saying that for the past seven to eight months following his ouster, he had been “campaigning and making efforts that Pakistan is subject to political instability so it can’t achieve economic stability and defaults.” “For this purpose, he (Imran) also led astray a person like Shaukat Tarin who under his influence did such an action because of which Pakistan could’ve been hurt,” the interior minister continued. “Inquiry against him (Tarin) is complete, the FIA had asked permission to arrest him which the government has given and he should be punished for it so no one ever dares to do something like this again.”

Despite all of this, he claimed, the PTI leader was “unsuccessful,” and a deal between the IMF and the government appeared to be approaching quickly. “He once again engaged in some abhorrent speech today, which is absolutely abhorrent, and I want to be clear that Pakistan will stabilize politically and economically.”
