ISLAMABAD, April 08  : In compliance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s order, the National Assembly session has been convened Saturday at 10:30am.

A notification in this regard was issued by the assembly secretariat on Friday.

It has been learnt that voting on opposition’s no-confidence motion is part of the 6-point agenda set for Saturday’s sitting of the lower house.

Besides no-trust move, the other items on agenda included question answer session, call attention notice and point of order.

The speaker under Article 95 will hold voting on the no-confidence motion submitted by Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.

Earlier today, the assembly secretariat received the attested copy of the Supreme Court verdict after which it issued the notification regarding convening of the session.

The SC verdict was cited in the notification.

A copy of the Supreme Court decision was also dispatched to the speaker.

The Supreme Court on Thursday set aside deputy speaker’s ruling to dismiss the no-trust resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan and the subsequent dissolution of the National Assembly by President Arif Alvi on the PM’s advice. The Supreme Court also ordered to hold the voting on the no-trust motion on April 9.

All five judges who were part of the larger bench of the apex court reached the verdict unanimously – 5 to none.

The Supreme Court ordered for the session of the National Assembly to be reconvened on Saturday at 10:30am, saying the session could not be adjourned without the conclusion of the no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The apex court ruled that President Alvi’s decision to dissolve the National Assembly was “illegal” and restored Prime Minister Imran Khan as well as his cabinet.

The court further said that the government could not interfere in the participation of any MNA in the assembly session.

“…if the no-confidence motion against the prime minister succeeds, then the assembly will appoint the new prime minister,” the top court’s order said.
