Ukraine urges halt to Russia’s assault as Biden heads to Poland

March – President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Friday that Ukrainians needed to “achieve peace” and stop the Russian bombing that has forced millions to flee to countries such as Poland, where US President Joe Biden has testified. Are Crisis first hand.

During a summit of leaders in Brussels aimed at demonstrating a united Western front against Russia’s month-long attack on its neighbor, Biden traveled to Poland on Friday to meet with experts on the refugee response.

Western leaders have condemned the Moscow attack as “barbaric” and promised new military and humanitarian aid following talks in Brussels on Thursday, while the United States and Britain extended sanctions to new targets.

Japan followed suit on Friday, saying it would increase its sanctions and deprive Russia of its most favored trade status. Australia has banned Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko and members of his family and 22 Russians from what he called “propaganda and misinformation”.
