“Devon” led the nominations for the British Academy Film Awards on Thursday, receiving 11 nominations, followed by Dark West’s “The Power of the Dog” with eight.According to Reuters,
Kenneth Branagh’s semi-autobiographical black-and-white comedy, Belfast, set at the beginning of three decades of controversy in Northern Ireland, won six nominations at the UK’s Top Film Awards.
All three films will compete for Best Picture at the awards, known as BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), as well as the age-old story “Lycoris Pizza” and “Don’t Lose Up”. A humorous warning about Climate change.
The James Bond film No Time to Die, a remake of West Side Story, and Licorice Pizza have received five nominations each.
“This is an incredibly interesting list of nominations, 48 different films have been nominated this year,” BAFTA Chairperson Krishnindu Majumdar told Reuters.
