Lijian Zhao, the deputy chief of mission at the Chinese Embassy, rejected the media reports regarding Prime Minister Imran Khan being shown his old statements about China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) during his recent visit of China.
Earlier, news reporter of a private media group tweeted: “According to well-placed sources within Chinese media, the Chinese officials gathered all the statements of Imran Khan and his senior cabinet members about the problems with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and showed them to him in a high profile meeting.”
Rejecting the report, Zhao replied: “Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing was in all meetings. This news is fabricated & totally groundless. Chinese hospitality is famous throughout the world. This is not the way treating a guest in Pakistan, too.”
After the clarification by the Chinese envoy, the journalist said: “Thanks for clarification: I don’t own the website & story. I just shared the story & its quote to know the real facts. It is also a fact that some PTI ministers and IK himself have been expressing reservations about CPEC in past. Agree with you on Chinese hospitality though.”
