ISLAMABAD: The Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the Federal Cabinet will meet today to consider raising import duty on grants, pine grits and other items for the new census.
According to the nine-point agenda, the ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen will approve a grant of Rs 5 billion for conducting a fresh census in the country, while also announcing compensation for the families of the deceased Chinese nationals. The meeting will also review the progress on the successful Pakistan program, besides approving Rs 4 billion for the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR), Rs 60 million for the repair of FC Balochistan’s helicopters.
The ECC will also determine the urea requirement during the Rabi season and set a minimum tobacco rate, and is expected to impose a 45% import duty on pine nuts imported from Afghanistan.
