Life threat alert issued to Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Peshawar Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Javed Iqbal has informed Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman about threats to his life, according to media reports on Saturday.

SSP operations Iqbal has penned a letter in this regard to JUI-F chief warning him of terror threats. The threat alerts were issued by intelligence agencies whereas all departments concerned have been asked to take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward situation.

The police official has also warned JUI-F against attending and addressing a rally in Peshawar while advising him to restrict his movement. Officials have urged Fazl to not attend rallies till elimination of threats.

Earlier yesterday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Samiul Haq was assassinated in a targeted attack in Rawalpindi on Friday.

As per the details, Maulana Samiul Haq sustained injuries in a targeted attack at his house in a private housing society in Rawalpindi’s Gulraiz area.

He was shifted to local hospital for medical assistance where he succumbed to his wounds.

Haq’s son Maulana Hamidul Haq confirmed his death in the attack.

“He was resting in his room during Asr time when his driver/guard went out for 15 minutes. When he returned, he found Maulana Samiul

Haq dead in his bed and his body covered in blood,” Sami s son said.
