In the world full of selfishness, where every action is restricted to one’s own use and benefit, there are still some stars, who do not lose their shine and make others shine too. These people are like sunshine after the rain. Their priorities are different from a person in today’s world. They are born to serve the humanity. They do not want anything in return, they do good and get happy and peaceful. They are the LEGENDS or the real humans we say. They are the heros who stay alive in the heart of the people even after their deaths. Talking about humanists, Madam Bilquees Edhi is one of the greatest personalities, serving mankind for more than 6 decades.

Abdul Sattar Edhi, was a Pakistani philanthropist, ascetic, and humanitarian who founded the Edhi Foundation, which runs the world’s largest volunteer ambulance network, along with various homeless shelters, animal shelters, rehabilitation centers, and orphanages across Pakistan. He served his nation throughout his life and died, donating his eyes. His services worth to be written in golden words in history. Bilquees Bano Edhi, wife of Abdul Sattar Edhi,  is a professional nurse and she heads the Bilquees Edhi Foundation. Her charity has saved over 42,000 unwanted babies.

Lahore: Bilquees Edhi has been declared the ‘Person of the Decade’, along with human rights rapporteur of the UN Prof Yanghee Lee and the US ethicist Stephen Soldz.

A spokesperson for the Edhi Foundation told  that as per the domino effect verdict, announced on Friday by the Impact Hallmarks, Bilquees Edhi was declared the most impactful person of the first two decades of the 21st century.

The Mother of Pakistan, Bilquees Edhi has already been given various national and foreign awards including Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the Lenin Peace Prize, Mother Teresa Memorial International Award for Social Justice (2015), and the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Public Service, she received along with her husband Abdul Sattar Edhi in 1986. The Impact Hallmarks, an international web-based organization that conducted the process, said in its announcement that the three persons – Bilquees Edhi, Prof Yanghee Lee and Stephen Soldz – have “stretched and segmented the top of the decade’s impact hallmarks and the opinion poll’s top ‘triarchy’ as well”.
