In accordance with the Supreme Court’s July 12 ruling in the reserved seats case, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday recognised 39 lawmakers as members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). These lawmakers had previously run as independent candidates in the February 8 elections but later joined the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
The ECP published a notification on its website designating 39 members of the National Assembly of Nigeria (NA) as members of the previous ruling party, based on their indication of PTI affiliation in their nomination papers for the national elections scheduled for February 8.
Under the direction of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Raja, a decision was made today to post notification of the affiliation of 39 MPs with the party created by Imran.
